In what turns out to be a pretty savvy strategic campaign gimmick, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s presidential campaign has been able to pull off the coordination of a telephone town hall meeting with Donald Trump.
In an email sent to supporters of her campaign on late Saturday night evening, Bachmann writes;
“Together, Donald Trump and I will discuss the state of the race, along with the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. We’ll also be available to address any questions that you may have.”
The event will take place Monday, October 17th, at 8:00 PM (est). To participate, one must first register by following this link.
Many of the back tier campaign have been resorting to these type of events. The low volume that is generated by the lack of interest in their campaigns, makes it easy way to motivate their base. But not have been able to enlist the help of Donald Trump. For reasons total not understood, a small but still significant number of voters trust The Donald’s opinion and were disappointed when he announced that was not seeking the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.
But Trump has “warned” the voting public that if Republicans do not nominate a candidate he likes, he may just decide to run afterall.
Regardless of his intentions, even though Trump is not likely to endorse Michele Bachmann in the primary, her ability to connect herself to Trump helps her now struggling campaign with Trump fans. The event also allows some to get the impression that he supports her, but more important that, it is a good earned media event. Such an event will afford Bachmann the chance to get some free press out of it.
For more details, see the actual email that Bachmann sent to her “Team Bachmann” list of supporters, which is presented below.
