Rick Santorum Email Makes Desperate Appeal to Social Conservatives for Money

Bookmark and Share  Rick Santorum is struggling to gain some momentum in the race for the Republican presidential nomination and he might have been able to if he had the right message and the amount of money needed to get that message out.  But he doesn’t.

Instead he is stuck trying to convince a divided evangelical bloc of the G.O.P. to support him instead of Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, or Rick Perry.  And without the money, he can’t even do that.

And it’s a shame, because while Rick Santorum is far from perfect, he is an attractive candidate with conservative credentials that may not be as consistent as some but far better than others.

However, no matter what, with a campaign treasury that is only slightly larger than that of Gary Johnson (yes, the former New Mexico Governor, is believe it or not, still running), it is nearly impossible for Santorum to go anywhere in the polls.  Short of a combined effort of the conservative Gods to perform a miracle for Santorum, his campaign will not have much life in it past the Iowa caucuses.  And Rick knows it.  That is why he sent out the email that you will find below this post.

In it, Rick Santorum desperately tries to anger the social conservatives that are his last hope.  He times his fundraising email so that it strikes just as the backlash against the mainstream media’s coverage of TEA movement darling Herman Cain seems to becoming an unfair public lynching.  It is under this atmosphere that Santorum tries to play the victim to similarly perceived liberal attacks.   Ultimately though, the fundraising attempts is one of those, “nice try, but no cigar” things that will do little to move the numbers in either Rick Santorum’s campaign account or the polls.

  1. He thinks stopping gays from marrying will help families in the economy? Wow, idiot!

  2. Santorum is at least invited to the debates, despite polling lower than Gary Johnson, yet he still has numbers lower than Johnson. That speaks pages about a guy who during the debates looks like a nervous whippet. And Santorum’s attitudes toward gays is hostile. Even Barry Goldwater said he didn’t care if a soldier was straight, they only had to shoot straight.

  3. Mr Santorum,

    Live to fight another day!
I am a very conservative catholic in Texas, and would love to see you doing better! It’s apparent that this simply is not your race to win! My advise; make a very public announcement that you are pulling out of the race in support of the republican nominee whoever that might be.ski it clear that the race is bigger than any one candidate. It’s about the fight to defeat the current administration

Be a good soldier! Throw your support to whoever might win regardless of how difficult that might be to swallow. We need to be successful
A graceful bow out at this time will be much better for you! And the country. I would love to see your participation within that future admin.

    Thank you for your service

    Byron
