If Warren is Cherokee, Obama is Kenyan

In a world where Liberalism seeks inequality through ethnicity, Obama has figured out how to play his cards.  Perhaps part of the reason why Obama took so long to find his birth certificate is because he was making millions of dollars on book sales.  The books were advertised as being written by Barack Obama, the “first African-American president of the Harvard Law  Review” and “…born in Kenya…”.

Obama’s literary agent kept this bio until two months after Obama declared that he was running for President.  Then the bio suddenly changed to “…born in Hawaii…”.

As a story teller, Obama is a master.  He told a made up story many times on the campaign trail about his Grandmother dying of cancer and fighting with the insurance companies.  His girlfriend from his book turned out to be a “composite”.  In other words, he had a lot of girlfriends and turned them all into one nice love story for his biography.  In all honesty, it’s no surprise the media doesn’t know who Obama is.  He doesn’t seem to either.

What does it say about a President that lies about his heritage in order to sell his books?  In this case it is simply more proof of a pattern.  Whether it is paying his pastor to shut up or asking the Russian to play ball until after the election, Obama is beginning to resemble a Machiavellian liar who will say whatever it takes to advance his agenda.

However, even beyond that is what appears meaningful to the liberal.  Just as Elisabeth Warren decided to assume the label of Cherokee in order to advance her career, Obama went from a half-white American born in Hawaii to a half-black African born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.  That’s a diversity product that will sell.   In fact many rich white liberals might buy his book just to assuage their guilt over their own perceived racism.  Obama knew his audience.

This is not representative of America.  In most of America, people who lie on resumes or pay money to cover up their associations get fired.  People who lie about their ethnicity to get a job or sell books generally aren’t very well respected.  Most Americans though don’t have a complicit media all to happy to turn a blind eye.

A Dog Eat Dog Campaign

By now, no doubt, you have heard how Mitt Romney is a cruel animal hater who put his dog in a kennel on the roof of their station wagon for a family trip in 1983.  The story has been running since 2007 and has been ramped up in recent weeks by comedians and animal rights groups.  Apparently, “dogs are not luggage” T-shirts are all the rage.

What we did not know until recently is that while Romney has questionable ways of transporting his K-9 friends, Obama apparently has better taste when it comes to dogs.  Literally.

I’ll be honest, at first glance at the various headlines, I thought the story was that Obama ate dog food as a kid.  After all, growing up in private school and a half a million dollar Hawaiian house and eventually going to Harvard can make someone very poor.  And then you have those pesky Republicans out there who seem bent on making people eat dog food by subjecting them to abject poverty.

But no, it turns out Obama actually ate dog.  Not so much as a result of poverty, but more as a traditional food served by his stepfather.  Big deal.  Seriously.  Yes, there will be plenty of jokes and puns, but the only people who should be concerned are the crazy dog lovers who think dogs are equal to people, Muslims and Jews whose laws forbid dog eating, and our friends at PETA.  As of this point, I haven’t heard if PETA has made a statement about Obama’s childhood pet’s unseemly demise.  Of course, obviously it’s not fair to call those dogs family pets, but after all this is politics.  Since when did fairness have anything to do with it.

Once you get over the shock of the “Man Puts Dog On Car Roof” headline and think about things like conditions in any dog humane society where they are kenneled the majority of each day, putting dogs in kennels in Airplane luggage holds, and some of the other things people subject their poor pets to in order to get them where they are going, what Romney did doesn’t seem so bad.  In fact, my wife still tells the stories of when they would put their family dog in a duffel bag in order to sneak her into “No Pets Allowed” hotels on family vacations.

People muzzle dogs, attack electric shock collars to their necks, etc.  Haven’t you heard of choke-chains?  In the grand scheme of things, rigging up a station wagon roof kennel with a wind shield for a family vacation should endear Romney to crazy, inventive US dads across the country.  Eating dogs probably won’t help Obama relate any better to the average American.  At least not any better than pictures of him riding in the back of his limousine with his dog.

Trump Has His Way With Obama

In Obama’s birth certificate speech, where he called on others to not be divisive and then called birthers a bunch of circus barkers, Obama claimed that he was releasing his birth certificate because that story was overshadowing the budget debate. But according to ABC’s Jake Tapper, a Pew Research study showed that the budget still outplayed the birther story in the media even over the past week.

So that leaves us with two very important questions. Why did Obama release his birth certificate yesterday, and of course the big one: why did Obama wait until yesterday to release his birth certificate?

Trump Did It (?)

Trump did not view the birth certificate release as a defeat. Instead, he took credit for it, claiming to be honored that he was able to do what others had not. While this may be Trump’s ego talking, he has a point. Trump gave this story legs and legitimacy that it had not enjoyed before. Trump even got the media to start scratching their heads and wonder why Obama wouldn’t simply release it.

Trump may not end up being a serious candidate for President, but he has a charisma that most deep intellectual GOP candidates lack. Romney, Gingrich, and Pawlenty may know that Obama is dead wrong in his policies, but they haven’t stood up like Chris Rock in Head of State and shouted “That ain’t right!” to a wildly cheering crowd who doesn’t really care if he knows what IS “right”.

The other question is why wait until yesterday? Let me offer this suggestion: the birthers provided Obama with a clear extreme to campaign against. Having that issue outstanding, and the ace up his sleeve, gave Obama the chance to paint the TEA Party and conservatives as lunatic fringe. Between that and the race card, this President and his supporters have already prepared their 2012 answers to the question of “why am I not better off than I was four years ago”. What the “last eight years” did for Obama in 2008, the title racist birther was going to do the same in 2012. Now the birther card is played. One less distraction, as the President himself called it, is laid to rest. We are getting dangerously closer to having to focus on issues in 2012.

Love or hate Trump, and whether this was for his ego’s sake or dumb luck, Donald Trump has done the GOP a huge favor by gambling on the birther issue. And perhaps Trump lost this gamble, but Obama has one less ace up his sleeve.
